K. P. Buteyko-s VDBE Method Approval
on Patients with AIDS
in Kiev KSRIEID,
I quarter, 1991
In the 1st quarter,1991, the VDBE method was approved on 7 AIDS virus carriers.
In 2 of them the HIV-infection was on the detected lymphoadenopathic stage.
Age distribution was as follows: 1 person was 5 years old; 5 people were 19-40
years old; 1 person was older than 40. Gender distribution was as follows:
three women and four men. The diagnosis was confirmed by enzyme immunoassay
and immunoblotting. Approximate duration of AIDS contamination was as follows:
1 person v 5 years; 3 persons v 2 years; 1 person v 1 year, and 2 persons
v1-4 months. The VDBE method was accompanied by expectant treatment (vitamins
and desensitization drugs) and psychotherapy, while 1 person was simultaneously
undergoing the Sartchuk method therapy.
All full VDBE method therapy course patients revealed general condition improvement
on the 10th day, 5 patients felt better on the 2nd or 3rd day, and condition
of 2 people bettered on the 5th day of therapy. Besides, acute depression
and expressed neurasthenia disappeared on the 2nd day of therapy in 2 persons.

The results of the VDBE treatment allow the following preliminary conclusions:
1. The use of the VDBE method has resulted in positive symptom dynamics.
2. No side-effects or complications have been observed in patients with AIDS
during the VDBE therapy.
3. Regular psychotherapy that had been used earlier proved ineffective, and
the condition of four patients even worsened.
